Second Plaze
at Porvoo Art competition with Eveliina Saarentaus
In recent years, I have worked closely with the talented young designer Eveliina Saarentaus. Now, we also experimented with working as an artistic duo. Our proposal Puutarhajuhla (Garden Party) was awarded shared second place in the art competition for the riverside block of the Taidetehdas area in my home town Porvoo, and it also won the public vote.
Garden Party:Seeds, colors, and insects carried by the wind from the old gardens of Porvoo across the river grow into a relief. In the artwork, layers of brass and colored flat glass create reflections that shift with natural light. Some of the glass elements are softly backlit, making the piece inviting even during the darker seasons. The insects are rendered in three dimensions, offering engaging details for art enthusiasts of all ages to explore and contemplate.
Congratulations to Jaakko Heikkilä on the win, and to Tuula Närhinen for sharing second place!
